UHMWPE stands for Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. It consists of extremely long polymer chains with a molecular mass between 3 and 9 million g/mol. These long chains transfer load more effectively to the polymer backbone, which gives it the highest impact strength and toughness of any thermoplastic material available today.
