Oil-filled Cast Polyamide 6 (commonly referred to as Oil PA6 or Self-Lubricating MC Nylon) represents a milestone in engineering plastics. By introducing a liquid lubricant package uniformly during the anionic polymerization process of caprolactam, the material gains a built-in, non-leaching lubricating film.
Unlike standard polyamide materials that require external greases or dry lubricants which wear off quickly, Oil PA6 features a micro-distribution of lubricating oil throughout its structural polymer matrix. As the material slides against matching metallic surfaces, micro-lubrication occurs continuously, decreasing wear by up to 5 times compared to cast nylon and POM.
